Put your trust in the Lord, and you will always be guided to do what the Lord wants you to do. You just have to believe and follow his word.
Mom and dad where devout Christians and believed in Christ. They where life long active members of Greenhill Missionary Baptist Church, in Marks Mississippi. Mom and dad served in various positions. Mom’s last services was Mother Crawford and dad served on the Deacon Board.
Mom and dad participated in church programs; church finances and getting people to join the church. Mom and dad liked talking with people about God. It did not matter what church you belonged to, they just wanted you to know Christ and how he can help you in your life.
Family of Christians
Virginia and Robert come from families who are devout Christians and believe in serving Christ. They attended church regularly with their parents. As Virginia and Robert made their way through life into adulthood, they continued to be Christians.
Mom would tell stories about going to prayer meetings in tents, as well as attending church. In fact it was when she was a young adult and on this particular day she went to church. However, this preaching was different. Somehow the preacher was talking about things that was happening in her life. So, she started to really listen to what the preacher was saying. At some point the preacher said that her problems could be solved by trusting the Lord. The preacher also asked, what do you have to lose? Just try God. So, it was then that mom decided to try God. From then and over the course of her life, mom’s belief in God became stronger. To the end of her life, she trusted in God.
Dad would tell us that going to church and believing in God would make your life better. While he would challenge your knowledge on things, he still believed in doing what was right. Dad’s family started what is now Greenhill M. B. Church in Marks Mississippi, and he remained an active member until his passing.
